2002, Zhejiang University College of the Arts New Media Design Department was established, beginning in the multimedia, networking and 3d virtual reality field of teaching, research and design practice.

2006, a new media design discipline into the ranks of Industrial Design Institute of Zhejiang University (University) continue to develop, and began to develop digital media and interaction design graduate student.

2009, the Interaction Design Institute was established under the virtual reality studio, five laboratories, and registered in Hangzhou Hon Code Technology Co., Ltd., to achieve the integration of industry development. At present the company with Zhejiang University College of the Arts signed a school-enterprise cooperation agreement in practice platform, to build research "practice and practice base."

interaction Design Institute of Zhejiang University (Interaction Design Institute, IxDI) under the Zhejiang University College of the Arts, is the earliest interaction design research, development and teaching institutions, research institutes mainly for web applications, digital products, software, games, virtual reality and digital publishing and other fields, including user experience to carry out, interaction analysis, innovation, design and evaluation of research and exploration, and provides full process design solutions.
